Good Friday 2011. Rarely have I been so moved by an event. The crowds at Trafalgar Square were surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the London traffic, sirens wailed and tourists wandered past, but while the story of Jesus last days played out we were transfixed.
It was such an impressive undertaking, a huge live video screen and all the main characters miked up through a sound system.
There was passion in their passion, honest intensity and energy. And it made me think: As Jesus hung there I was finding the hot sun difficult – “could I not bear 1 hour when Jesus had suffered and died in the heat of 1st century Palestine!’ Shame on our comfortable lives that we imagine we actually suffer much!
