Here are a couple of pages about music. When I was at school music was everything to me, I lived and breathed it day and night. When I left school I went to this music college to study French Horn and Piano. The Royal Academy of Music is a conservatoire in London. It was founded by Lord Burghersh in 1822 with the help and ideas of the French harpist and composer Nicolas Bochsa and it is Britain’s oldest degree-granting music school.
Sadly I didn’t take up a musical career but I still am in love with music. Bach said “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” I heartily agree! He also said “It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.” So he had a sense of humour as well!
Music is hard to explain in evolutionary terms (you may come across some bizarre theories) – the reason is it is from God. Scientists have discovered that music bypasses the normal cognitive functions which is why it has such a direct effect on our emotions. It can make us laugh, shout out loud with joy and make us cry like babies. One day music will fill time and space and we will all be in harmony with the Cosmic Composer!
